For all of you wondering where in the world I have been lately…2013 has been a whirlwind already! I've taken the past few weeks to focus on starting the year off right with my photography business. I've been busy revamping my website to a more portfolio friendly look so viewers can see not only my work, but see all the great local spots for portraits. I also had the opportunity to capture my first stylized vintage wedding shoot of 2013. I am in love with themed photo sessions! Since this month is all about celebrating the new year, I also have an amazing contest happening on the new website. Stop on by to read all about it! You could win your own portrait session with Shine with Jennifer Leigh.
A sneak peek at our new website! Isn't it just gorgeous?!
In regards to the future of Shine On Blog, I will continue to blog here; although, not quite as frequently. This blog will feature all my DIY projects, gluten free goodness and travel photography. However, all my photography sessions will now be posted on my website photography blog. 2013 will be full of great changes and I am ready for them!
In my last post I raved about my time at The 4th Annual Saints Ball. I have been waiting patiently for the photo booth images to appear on The Traveling Photo Booth's site so I could share them. My husband and I had such a fun time. For some reason, we are challenged when it comes to counting down three seconds. It took three attempts in the photo booth, but we finally got it down!

We had a photo booth at our wedding and our guests LOVED it! I think they spent more time taking pictures of themselves than out on the dance floor. I was so pleased to have so many images of our wedding guests. If you have a special event or wedding reception coming up, try to fit a photo booth into your budget. Your guest will thank you and you will enjoy the fun memories captured for years to come.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Safe travels and sweet times with friends and family.
I can't believe three weeks have gone by since I last photographed Terri! Life was quite busy for the two of us as I was off in Jamaica for vacation and Terri was in Orlando for The Gospel Coalition Women's Conference of 2012. We are both back for the summer and hoping things do not get too crazy so we can meet weekly and capture Terri's bump…that is just starting to show!
I absolutely adore my weekly meetings with Terri. Sweet conversation over cookies with a little photography fun added in makes for a great time of fellowship and friendship.

Traveling the world is one of the goals in my husband and I’s lifetime planner. Before I married my husband, he had never left the country. Last year we traveled to Antigua for our honeymoon and we just returned Sunday from one week in Jamaica. Our next trip will be a little less tropical, but with a busy lifestyle, we all need a little ‘R and R’ sometimes. We loved the Sandals Luxury Resort we experienced for our honeymoon so much, that we decided to try another. Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa in Westmoreland, Jamaica, far exceeded our expectations!
Travel
The flight to Jamaica was fairly uneventful. Two quick two hour flights from Norfolk Airport and we landed in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The most difficult part of the travel was the 1.75 hour bus trip from Montego Bay to Westmoreland. It was an eye opening experience to view the Jamaican culture as we traveled the windy, narrow roads through the Blue Mountains. If you suffer from motion sickness, make sure to take several Dramamine before the trip. Once you arrive at the Sandal's lobby, you forget all about the crazy ride as you are greeted by several staff members gladly taking your bags from you and offering drinks and a warm towel.
Accommodations
Our room wasn't quite ready so we headed to Bayside, one of six restaurants at the resort, for a quick bite to eat. Afterward, a staff member helped us with our bags to our room at the Italian Village. Our room was quite spacious with a king size bed and a view of the whirlpool and ocean. One unique feature about this particular Sandal's Resort is that every room on the premises is on the beach.
It's Friday and I am also "stoked" for this coming weekend. My husband and I are taking a much needed vacation to the tropical paradise of Jamaica. He starts a new job when we return and this time away is just what we need to prepare for the upcoming changes in our lives. We fly out very early Saturday morning and after a short flight and a long bus trip, I will have my toes in the sand and the warm breeze in my face. Anyone ever visited Jamaica before? This our first time!
Before I dive into my last minute laundry, cleaning and packing, I want to share week 15 of Terri's Maternity Series with you. I think this lovely lady just keeps getting more beautiful as the weeks go by. Have a great weekend all!
